How quickly people forget about the Brixton Riots, anti-semitism
http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/entr...b05c31e5723118
Let's have a realistic conversation about race and bigotry that is part of western culture and the European colonialist legacy still exits.
Who are worse bigots? Or who hides it better?

Every country has its bigots - Trump and his supporters being testimony to that -
<FWIW, crime has been dropping in most American cities as well, with Chicago being a major and troubling exception.>
Not about Detroit but just over the weekend a 9-yr old shot herself with a loaded gun she found in a neighbor's yards and a couple of bad dudes were gunned down in front of their residences and there was another random murder - but yes way down form not long ago.

Le Pen ? the f* bast* of father repeatedly said that the holocaust was ' a detail in history'.
So nice. He started his career with 'friends' from the LVF or such nice organizations.
And I don't know how you shouldcall somebody who wants to expell Mexicans (drug rapists), build a wall to keep them away, forbid entry to Muslims on his soil - and I forget some. For me it is Fascism.
I wanted to check who his friends were and here is the latest news about JM LP : homophobia as its best...
I don't imagine D Trump likes gays, does he ?

Trump is rather gay-friendly for a Republican - being the only one about who is against bans on trans-gendered folks from using the WC of their sexual preference - saying anything trans-gendered person could use the bathroom of their choice at Trump Tower.
Now he has to appeal to the religious right to get the GOP nomination but now that he has expect him to become more liberal on some social issues - like abortion and planned parenthood (which he also said he supports funding for besides abortion - setting him again apart from many Republicans.

And there is no anti-Islamists or anti-immigrant sentiment in the UK. Got it.
BTW, Trump has never been elected to any public post.>>
IMDonhere - I never said that. As NewBe correctly states, I was responding to your comparison of Boris Johnson with Le Pen and the German NDP [then throwing OK, Ian Paisley, Oswald Mosley, in for good measure] and whatever you think about Boris, he is no fascist.
of course there are anti-islamists and anti-migrants in the UK, and I never said otherwise. I was responding specifically to your erroneous suggestion that Boris is fascist, which he most certainly isn't.
>
if you like. but I think that you need to stop throwing wild accusations around if we're to have a profitable discussion rather than a 'you're more fascist than we are" type debate.

Of which Canada and the U.S. are a part of and certainly we have a lot of anti-Moslem feeling here - Donald Trump's poll numbers testify to that. I did not know we had that many however who would support Trump and thus a blanket Moslem ban.

I never used comparatives, it just seem thought they were above the racist fray.
And Trump is not a much a fascist as much he a narcissistic psychopath, which is without ideology, but equally dangerous.
People throw around Nazis, Fascists, and Hitler because it is shorthand emotional way to describe evil, without really thinking about the specifics.
What frightens me more is the depth of fear and hatred of my fellow Americans.
Trump is without ideology. He is about the grabbing of power. And he is using his bigoted vulgarian demagogic showmanship instead of anything that resembles policies or knowledge.

Evangelicals are up in arms about Trump's leading the GOP precisely because he's liberal on so-called social issues: abortion, gay marriage, access to birth control, dancing on Sunday, etc.
And the other day he said that he plans to raise taxes on the rich in order to give the middle class a break. You could hear Grover Norquist screaming all across this great land.
Throw in his comments about women and Mexicans and Muslims, and there seems to be no end of voters he's happy to alienate. Which is good for TV ratings, but bad for winning elections.

According to Wikipedia, definition of Fascism by R Paxton is
Robert Paxton says that fascism is "a form of political behavior marked by obsessive preoccupation with community decline, humiliation, or victimhood and by compensatory cults of unity, energy, and purity, in which a mass-based party of committed nationalist militants, working in uneasy but effective collaboration with traditional elites, abandons democratic liberties and pursues with redemptive violence and without ethical or legal restraints goals of internal cleansing and external expansion."[32]
Trump doesn't qualify ?

Yes, I always define my world by Wikipedia definitions.
He is isolationist. He has not spoken of national militants nor has he said anything of external expansionism.
I am not sure how many characteristics must apply and how much weight must be given to each.
He is a demagogue who uses emotion and ignorance for his appeal. An American entity called Politifact which won a Pulitzer an esteemed journalism award in the US, has tracked his statements and he only tells the truth 9% of the time. He has no ideology. He has means to his power.

Trump is nearly 70 years old and already has signs of delusions, demented thoughts and slips of the tongue - too old to be President IMO as is Bernie and Hillary - we need a young person with vim and vigor not some old hags.
Some young Dem missed the boat by not running against a very weak Hillary - if Bernie were a bit younger and less tainted by socialism he would have beaten Hillary - just as Obama did.

Additionally the Wikipedia definition does not address how a fascist economy just be maintained. Trump has said nothing about the nationalization of any industry. He speaks of less regulation. That is the opposite of any fascist manifesto.

Fun fact: active duty military in the US prefer Trump to Hillary by more than a 2-to-1 margin, according to the latest polls.
Trump has also used "America First" as a slogan, which was, using CNN's words, the "isolationist, defeatist, anti-Semitic national organization that urged the United States to appease Adolf Hitler."
Did he know its history? Was it an innocent blunder--he's so good at those--or another dog whistle?
All I know is, there isn't enough beer in the world to see me through a Trump administration.

By all appearances Trump knows nothing of history, economics, foreign policy, or civility. The other day he did not know what the GI Bill was, so to think he would know the details of the Nazis campaigns is either coincidence or the work of one his operatives.
