GERMANY ON A BUDGET

I AM GOING TO GERMANY FOR ABOUT THREE WEEKS THE LAST OF NOVEMBER AND THE FIRST OF DECEMBER. MY MAIN PURPOSE IS TO VISIT THE AREA AROUND MUHLHAUSEN, THE BIRTHPLACE OF MY GRANDFATHER. I AM ON A RATHER TIGHT BUDGET AND WOULD LIKE SOME SUGGESTIONS AS TO WHERE TO STAY (REASONABLE HOTELS, BED AND BREAKFAST, AND PENSIONS) I HAVE A SIX DAY RAILPASS AND I AM GOING TO RENT A CAR FOR A WEEK. ALL ADVICE WOULD BE APPRECIATED.

The first bit of adivce ol' boy is to stop SHOUTING. That is typing in all capital letters. It is the equivalent of yelling. Have some etiquette, and a good time in Germany!!

hi there,

first thanks Enforcer – I hate to read messages in capitols. Back to dave: there is no town called "Muhlhausen" in Germany. You shure mean Muehlhausen. There are about 20. Perhaps You have any idea in which area it it located, or any bigger city is nearby.
Gar

Why do people type in all caps. I hate it too. It is very hard to read. I think most of them are a little brain dead.

Dick

I think you should cut the guy some slack.
Dave, where in Germany is this town you're going to? If you answer that, maybe someone can give you some good info.

Just wanted to see the alleged insults, but didn't see any.

I'm sure he is referring to the town located between Nuernberg and Regensburg. The others are 'kuhdorfs' not that this MUeHLHAUSEN is a thriving metropolis! Any who, since everyone one else is stuck on case and the use of &#252 vs. ue I will make a suggestion. Do a search on Nuernberg or Regensburg for accommodations they are only about 10 miles away and it sounds like you have transportation under control!

Hi Loki!

I thought the guy made it clear on the other thread which Mühlhausen he was talking about. Your Mühlhausen is the 'Kuhdorf'.

He's asking after the one NW of, and about the same size as Erfurt. It lies just inside the old East Germany border.

Harzer

If you're indeed talking about Muehlhause in Thuringia, check out their website at http://www.muehlhausen.de/

Go to Touristik; room with breakfast runs about DM 40-50.00 per night/person (i.e. about $ 25.00). Some hotels/ B&B's even have e-mail.
