Germany - Munich - Underground

I have been underground AND lost in Munich with my German mom and German aunt.

I have a map of the subway and underground routes. Is there a map for shopping or places to eat once you are underground? Is there a way to know what street is above you while underground? To know what street you are under would come in handy if you have a surface map like I do. Are the intersections marked underground?

When we were lost, we just went into the basements of one of the stores to get above ground and out.

I want to go again but would rather be a better navigator this time around!

Thanks!

Rowdy

Every underground station has small-scale maps of the immediate surrounding of the station (Umgebumgsplan). You can just correlate the street names from there with your map.
Otherwise, simply get a good city map next time, with subway stations and lines marked, such as those from Falk.

Altimiro,

Where are those small-scale maps? Are they mounted near where you would buy tickets? Are they for sell by a vendor?

Thanks!

Please forgive me for mis-spelling your name!

No, they are posted in the station, right where the subway line plan, the tarif plan etc. hang.

I will venture down there to take a look in the fall. Thank You!
