History and Hiking in Europe- Koblenz, Rhine Valley, Cologne, Venice, Dolomites, Cluj-Napoca, Bucharest, Prague, Berlin and London
As this was a long trip, I will write more about each segment as the time permits. Please let me know if you have any specific questions.

From Seattle we had a direct flight to Frankfurt, then drove to Koblenz, where we stayed in an apartment booked through Airbnb. We had 3 full days to visit Koblenz and Rhine Valley.
On July 7th we drove to Koln ( Cologne) visited the Cathedral and the downtown and around 5 pm we took a direct flight to Venice where we rented a room at a small hotel close to Venice Mestre train Station. (we made arrangements with the hotel to send a cab to pick us up at the airport).
On July 8th we changed three trains, one bus and one cab and we finally made it to Passo Falzarego in time to catch one of the last cable cars to Refugio Lagazuoi. Here we stayed three nights, enjoyed the views and good food and we hiked to the Military Galleries and surrounding areas. You can find more information on my son's blog: https://www.youngtravelerineurope.co...ego-day-hikes/ I highly recommend this Refugio as the food was great, hosts were friendly and English speaking.
From there we hiked to Refugio Fanes, where we spend a few nights and then to Refugio Averau and we ended our Alta Via 1 hikes at Refugio Passo Giau.
This site was very helpful in planing our Dolomites trip: http://rifugios.net/alta-via-1.html
The majority of the refugios took credit cards so we didn't have to carry too much cash with us.
We were able to have gluten free options with the "alla carte" option.
From Passo Giau we took the bus back to Cortina D'Ampezzo and from there the Cortina Express Bus back to Venice .

I would love to hear about the Romania portion of your trip!
Such as sightseeing, accommodations, restaurant recommendations, weather, etc.
Thank you!
