Germany - From Cologne to Nurburg - Grand Prix Race

Hey race fans!

We're going to Cologne the last week of June and my husband is going to the Formula One race in Nurburg.

Does anyone know how we can get there without having to rent a car?

It's only 85 km/52 mi. but I don't know if there are buses or trains that go directly there.

Any suggestions?

Thank you!

Tanya- you have choosen the most difficult town in Germany to get to via rail. I would definitely suggest a car rental as Nurburg is only 1 1/2 to 2 hrs from Cologne. You also might want to check in with tour agencies in Cologne who might have special tours to the race.

Hah! Okay, thanks! I received an email from the Cologne Tourist board suggesting I check out the rail website. I'm still waiting to hear from the hotel we booked in Cologne, too. We still have enough time to figure something out... Thanks again!

Tanya- on further investigation the website "www.nuerburgring.de" has excellent info(in English) and useful links as well as a bus schedule from Koblenz to Nurburg. Hope this helps.

I was able to find a car rental for only €45 and I think we're going to take that.

The train from Cologne to Koblenz (nearest town to race bus) costs €36 round trip for each of us so it will work out better getting the car.

Thanks again for your ideas. Tanya
