Germany Castle Hotel Question
 

My husband and I would like to stay at least one night in a Castle in Germany but I have trouble with stairs. Does anyone know if any of the castles have been retrofitted with elevators?

While somebody may know of a castle with an elevator, from my own experience, it isn't likely. Elevators don't seem to be a big priority for hotels in Germany, especially those in very old buildings. Maybe the newer, more modern ones might have them.

In our travels through Germany, I look for hotels with elevators for my DH who has some difficulty getting around. They are not easy to find and almost impossible in some smaller towns.

Which region in Germany?

And which budget?

Which region? Thinking about the Rhine River area but open to all. As far as budget, this will be a splurge of sorts so we are willing to spend up to 250-300 euros.

A lot of the "castles" in Europe remain elevator free.....but there is often a newly built addition that is more modern and usually has an elevator. You "might" still get the feel of the castle. though your room might reflect something more modern.
My husband and I also have trouble with stairs....so lately have found that B&B's and guesthouses are out. That's fine,,,rates at smaller hotels with elevators are fine... As far as the castle part...we stayed at one in Scotland and were in the NEW part, but nice.
Perhaps you'll get some concrete answers on this thread....but be sure and double check with the hotel to see if there is an elevator, or if they are putting in the new part.

..and every country other than the USA is third world.

98% of Germany's hotels have an elevator. The remaining 2% are very cheap old houses.

With some minutes research, I can easily find dozens more.

BTW, most German hotels have warm water. Some even have bathrooms. We even have automobiles in Germany.

traveller1959, I have done quite a bit of travelling in Germany and Austria and because of my husband's arthritis, make it a point to try to find hotels with elevators.

We do NOT stay in large cities in Germany but enjoy the smaller towns and little villages where I have found that most of the older, quaint hotels do not have elevators.

Germany is one of our favorite places to travel and I was in no way trying to put down the country. I was speaking from my own experience.
