Germany A'dam Belgium Itinerary Help

Three of us are flying into Dusseldorf and departing 8 days later from Brussels. On the 7th day we need to drop our son off at summer school in Aachen. I would really appreciate any itinerary suggestions. for historical sights, castles, unique towns and cities.

I would definitely plan to spend some time seeing Aachen yourselves. it is a fascinating city with the history of Charlemagne's empire. Cologne is another logical place to visit in that area.

It is a short drive from Aachen to Brussels for your departure. If you want to see more of that city than the Grand Place and a few other sights you would have to do it earlier in the trip and circle back to Aachen at the end. you could go in many different directions when you arrive in Dusseldorf. Are you especially interested in any of the three countries you have tagged, Germany, the Netherlands and/or Belgium?

Castles - near Brussels there are a couple: Gaasbeek and Beersel. Further out near Dinant is Freÿr. If you are driving to Brussels anyway, Dinant is worth a look-in - picturesque setting, with a citadel on the hill.

Also near Aachen is Maastricht - very pretty little city, worth a visit.

Ditto. Maastricht is a lively city. Train connections for the short hop to Aachen used to be a problem. There was no direct train. I don't know how it is now.

Yes, good question - are you going by train or driving?
