Germany
I (and a friend) will be traveling by train for 2 weeks in mid July through Germany. We need to maximize the use of our seven day rail pass. We'd like to visit Berlin, and any other destination connected by train (also Prague). We're flying into Frankfurt. Any suggestions how to do this and cities to see? Also, any decent but reasonably priced lodging? Thanks

Would consider the following route:

1. Frankfurt to Berlin
2. Berlin to Munich
3. Munich to Rothenburg
4. Rothenburg to Trier via the Mosel River
5. Trier to Cologne via the Mosel and Rhine
6. Cologne to Hanover
7. Hanover to Frankfurt

OTOH, by utilizing the 7 days, you will be doing a lot of packing and unpacking .

US
A copy of the Thomas Cook European Timetable should serve you well. Buy it at www.thomascooktimetables.com/
It's about $18 including shipping with about 2 weeks for delivery.

Thomas Cook European Timetable is sold in Germany (book shops at the stations) with the cover "Kursbuch Europa" for less than 8 euros.
