But, yeah, I guess it's a question of whether High German is really the local tongue in Bavaria.

Just remember not to use "Guten Tag" in Bavaria, as nobody uses this greeting, you can use "Grüß Gott" instead. You use a language to be able to communicate, and high German will work (almost) everywhere. If you don't understand either standard German or the Bavarian dialect there will always be somebody who speaks English :-). Locals (outside of the cities a least) use Bavarian of course.

Sorry this is my first post and a little off topic. But since there seem to be Germans from all over the country, I thought I'd ask real quick.
Where would Germans be least tolerant about seeing Latino looking poeple? Bavaria in the south or around Dresen in the east? what about the north and west? I am from Brazil by the way. |
