German Feather Comforter?
 

Does anyone know where to get the down comforters that you find in the hotels in Germany/Austria? Those light warm comfy ones folded up on the beds. They are uniquely different than the ones you find in the USA and other countries in Europe. I will be in Salzburg and Vienna in Sept and would like to purchase one for the long cold winter Chicago nights.

There's a good, large bedding and housewares store in Vienna on Mariahilferstrasse at the corner of Breite Gasse. Extensive bedding selections. It starts with an L but I just can't remember the name.
If you want to go "green", there's an excellent natural products store across the street from the store above called Grune Erde http://www.grueneerde.com/de/
I haven't checked their bedding and bedlinens, although they do carry it. I love their towels and bathroom mats (not cheap though).

In Vienna
The " L " shop on Mariahilferstrasse is most probably Leiner. This store is very large and carries everything from furniture to glass 4 -5 floors.

Take Bus2A from city center 5-10 minute ride- a stop just in front of the store
or subway U-3 Neubaugasse stop
Not a long walk from city center.

For an excelent and large selection and highest quality look to
Schwäbischen Jungfrau- a speciality shop on Graben in the city center

Yes, Leiner it is! Thanks! We have bought several things from them, including Fissler and Silit cookware and some bedlinens. IMO, the quality is still good although not, of course, up there in the downy heavens with the Jungfrau.

There is at least one other good sized bedding store on Mariahilferstrasse walking "up" the street in the direction of the Westbahnhof on the same side as Leiner. We haven't shopped there though.
