German Buses and Laendertickets
Basic question:
Are the train Laenderpaesse valid for DB buses as well? Specifically, traveling from Goslar to Bad Harzburg with a Niedersachsen ticket for 2. We then catch omnibus #820 dir:Braunlage for our stop at Torfhaus, before beginning our hike up the Brocken via Goetheweg. I did find the bus schedule, and learned the one-way cost is 4,10€....but, does the pass also cover buses? How do I know if this is a DB bus (vs private line)? I found the bus schedule at bsvg.efa.de |
I thought Lander Tickets covered most all buses DB or not, including city transports. I'll await quokka or Lubitsch to confirm or not that.
|
That seems to be clearly a KVG Braunschweig bus, isn't it from that link? So that isn't DB, it's a transport company that runs a lot of bus systems, but I think it is owned by the state whereas CB is owned mostly by the Federal Republic of Germany.
this is it's website, I think https://www.regionalverband-braunsch.../bus-und-tram/ |
But, don't Lander tickets cover nearly all buses not just DB - Bavarian Pass does I believe.

The Niedersachsen ticket covers all buses in Lower Saxony (except for three counties but these are not relevant for you).

Thank you Lubitsch.
Still plotting out a day trip... We will travel from Goslar to Bad Harzburg, then onward. The DB site says 'fare not available' for this segment. Any explanation to help? |
You needn't any tickets online just buy it on the spot. Not sure why the DB site doesn't show the fare even though there is no crossing of transport association boundaries, it's all within VRB. Check here https://bsvg.efa.de/vrbstd/XSLT_TRIP...nspCompany=vrb

Where y'all getting the idea that DB's IC buses can be used with a Länderticket? The Ländertickets are a DB Regio product and valid on Nahverhkehr (local/regional trains and buses.) IC buses are Fernverkehr (long-distance transport, like IC and ICE trains.)
|
You can check if all your buses are covered by the Niedersachsenticket here: https://www.niedersachsentarif.de/fahrplaner
As Lubitsch said, the three counties where it is not valid do not concern you, totally different region. |
Fuss~~
We are not using an IC bus, just a short-haul local omnibus, between Goslar and Bad Harzburg. Lubitsch, I am clear that these local train tix do not need to be purchased online or in advance. I was trying to budget for the day trip costs. Next, I need to investigate whether the Rheinland Pfalz pass covers KD Ships...! |
Train tickets get 20% off the K-D boats and so do passes- used to be 100% covered several years ago. I'd say the same applies to Lander Tickets but will be nice to see what you come up with for sure - quick Google search yielded no obvious info on that.

Yeah concept of IC vs regional buses escaped me. Nature to honor only regional buses on regional Lander Ticket. Thanks for pointing that out!

Thanks Pal,
we will present our Laenderpass at the KD kiosk to see what we savings we might get! |
