Geneva to Salzburg, Austria

Traveling to Switzerland in a few months. When I leave Geneva going to Salzburg. There are no direct flights, long layover in Düsseldorf. Perhaps fly into Munich and take the train into Salzburg. Appreciate any suggestions.

Why not take the train all the way from Geneva to Salzburg? Very pretty country to go through, and much more relaxing than dealing with flights.

The train is clearly the best option, a little under 8.5 hours, only 1.5 longer than the flight/train option.

Look at Skyscanner.com for flights. Depending on the day of travel there are options for flights (all with one stop) lasting less than 5 hours and a couple less than 4 hours. For example, on June 11 there is a Brussels Air flight with a 55 minute layover in Brussels and a total travel time of 3:45 at a cost of $128.
