GENERAL QUESTIONS.......

we plan a june trip to croatia. now we are thinking of adding slovenia. bled and the julian alps for sure. will cable-cars be running in june? are there opportunities for scenic walks (as opposed to snow blocking the trails)? is ljubljana similar to prague as far as medeival buildings, great squares, and easy-walking? (is it a pretty city?)

Dear bod,

I suggest that you repost with a title more descriptive of what you are looking for.

Most folks just skim the titles for what interests them.

Llubljana is NO Prague, but more an example of Soviet-era town planning from which it's trying to recover. Not that it's not pleasant and i havn't been there for several years but remember it as a dud when i stayed there one day. Maybe i missed something, but it definitely is NO Prague.

please, everyone else, do not post any replies to this thread, and take away any incentive that bodhijack might have to re-post witha proper message header.

Sorry Rex, I don't agree. I've seen posts with over a hundred responses with really silly or meaningless titles. I think it would be sufficient for bodhijak to do a better heading next time.

With respect to your question, I went to Croatia and Slovenia at the end of June, beginning of May. It was quite hot and while there was a little snow on the peaks, most was gone. Snow would not have prevented you from scenic walks or hikes.

Ljubljana is a lovely city, on a much smaller scale (and much less touristy) than Prague. It's growing in popularity and now would be a great time to visit. Do a search here and you'll find some good posts about the city. Bled is beautiful with lots of opportunities to hike or walk.

For good Slovenia tips, you might want to do a search on www.virtualtourist.com There are several members who live in Slovenia and many who have written great travel tips.
