General Aviation in Switzerland?

Ok, this question is from my husband. We will be in Interlaken and Zermatt the first week of May and he's wondering if rental single-engine planes are available for rent or can we have someone fly us around? (My husband is a commercial pilot and drools everytime he hears a plane go by!) Also, has anyone been to any of the aviation museums in the area?

Marla, have not been there, but Great Aircraft Collections of the World, compiled by Bob Ogden, lists the Verkehrshaus der Schweiz, Swiss Transport Museum, on the north side of Lake Lucerne about 2 km east of the town center at Luzern. Terms it relatively new - only 20 years for much of it - but one of the largest in Europe. Good luck looking for a plane to rent. Our conversations with visitors to Oshkosh, the Mecca for airplane enthusiasts, have never found a country outside the USA that is not extremely up-tight about civilian aircraft. A friend was forced to test fly a 200-mph plane in a prescribed 5 km radius circle for two days in Austria. We will be visiting Museo Storico Dell'Aeronautica Militare Italiano at Lago di Bracciano, 25 km northwest of Rome, in April. Will tell you about it when we return, if you like. Marge
