Don't know from firsthand experience, but I'm willing to bet you can find lots of information by googling.

Start here:

My gay friends make most of their arangements through a gay travel web site I think. I don't know what it is though. They seem to generally stay at gay-owned B&Bs and such. Maybe someone on here will know. Good luck and skip the caps next time.

Hi LD,

No need to do all caps, we can hear you.

$100 is only 70E. That's rather low for Venice.

Ira, nothing like a screaming queen, is there? O:)

I wonder what ThinG's olfactories have to say about this one.

Leigh David, I would check out both gay and budget websites. $70USD is pretty low for Venice especially in the summer.

Lonely Planet's BB called the Thorn Tree has a gay and lesbian branch. There's a gay travel magazine that is good (Out Travel or something like that).

Fodors contains a wealth of information but there are not too many gay out active posters here.

Oops 70 euro I meant.

NYCFoodSnob; That's MISS Screaming Queen to you and don't you ever forget it.

I have seen mention of only one listed gay-owner lodging. Excerpted from one of my travel guides (TimeOut):

"Il Lato Azzurro" a gay-owned and -operated guesthouse on Venice's vegetable garden island of Sant'Erasmo is the ideal place to stay if you're looking for a really quiet retreat. Venice and its flocks are a couple of vaporetto stops away.

Via forte 13, Sant'Erasmo
email: [email protected]
40E single, 56E double, 75E triple, 90E quad; dinner 15E

You may also wish to contact Alvise Zanchi from Venice a la Carte, who organizes tours and itineraries (and happens to be the partner of the only American gondola maker, Thom Price, in Venice.)
