Gatwick to Heathrow?
I understand that there is a shuttle bus from Gatwick to Heathrow. Does anyone know how frequent the buses are and approximately how long the journey takes. We shall board about 10:00 a.m., so hopefully rush hour traffic will not be a problem. Any advice you can offer would be much appreciated.

www.nationalexpress.co.uk - but allow 4 hours between flights if you are on one ticket, at least 5 if you aren't - and don't forget to collect your luggage at Gatwick, it won't be sent to LHR

I always wonder when we get this question (or the LHR to LGW version) and the OP doesn't come right back --- whether they had a heart attack after reading the answer. "<i>Oh, my gosh honey - we have 2 hours between flights and Fodors says it can't be done!!</i>"

As a local this is not something I would normally want to do. How many of you are in the party? It might be cheaper to take a chauffered car. A quick search provides several car services. Here is an information sheet on the details of the bus such as price, time and where the stops are at Heathrow. http://www.londontoolkit.com/travel/...s_transfer.htm
Scheduled journey time 75 minutes but they warn you to allow much more than that. It is 45 miles on one of the busiest roads, rush hour makes it worse but it is used by commercial traffic delivering goods and other activities all day long. |
"As a local this is not something I would normally want to do." Why not? I've done it several times in either direction and it works fine. Of course, I travel solo, so there's no way a car service is going to be cost effective.

Thanks for your replies. We are only two and have a reasonable amount of time between flights, so we shall probably go with the shuttle bus. SM
