baldeagle: You are asking all these 1 and 2 sentence questions about Dover, Gatwick, renting a car in London (why?? ), credit cards, etc.
You may end up getting conflicting info since your threads are all over the board (in more ways than one)
Why not give is your basic itinerary and then we can make better suggestions . . . . .

I am planning on visiting London next week. From my post,I think it is obvious that I will be arriving and leaving from Gatwick Airport in London. I shall be staying at a B&B and I have no idea where Gunnersbury Lane is. The direction was not clear. I'm thinking also of renting a car to visit the surrounding countryside. Am taking a cruise during the 3 weeks in Great Britain. The cruise departs from Dover. Hence the questions that sound so aparodic. I have listed my cruise itineray elsewhere in this forum. Did not know this forum existed only until lately.

Hi -
Paste gunnersbury lane london in Google and press "Maps." As you can see, your nearest Tube station is Acton Town.
Now go to thetube.com (Journey Planner) and enter Victoria Station and Acton Town as your from and to points, and you will see that the District Line is a straight shot.
So your itinerary might be:
Southern Trains Gatwick to Victoria
District Line Victoria to Acton Town.
