Does anyone know if there are currently any promotion codes for purchasing discounted Gatwick Express tickets? The codes listed in 2007 do not seem to work now.

Take the Souther Train for about 9BPs and you have an instant discount of about 8BPs.

It will take about 5 minutes longer than GX because it makes couple of quick stops.

They have discontinued the on-line discounts. The only one now available is the 4 for 2 which must be purchased at the station. Unless it's rush hour I'd take the Southern Train.

I'd also take the Southern train IF you want to get to Victoria and IF you are not arriving on a weekday morning.

But there are other trains from LGW to London - so where is your final destination? It makes no sense to go to Victoria if your hotel is in Bloomsbury . . . .

Easyjet has a 10% discount on Gatwick Express tickets if you book ahead through their website. It's not much, but it's something.

For Bloomsbury i'd think First Capital One to St Paul's station or Farringdon would put you about a mile from Bloomsbury - frequent direct trains from Gatwick

There's no St Paul's railway station (PalQ probably means City Thameslink), and getting a taxi from Farringdon's not easy.

The best thing is to get the First Capital to St Pancras then taxi from there. If your hotel is really near Holborn or Russell sq tubes, the Piccadilly Line from St Pancras is the ONLY direct tube link to a Bloomsbury tube station from a railway station linked with a Gatwick train.

phyllis_stein: Yes, as flanner suggests, a train to St Pancras and then a short cab ride from there is probably your best option.

St Paul's? - you are mixing up tube and mainline stations there PQ.

Well there is a stop on First Capital trains called City Thamelink/St Paul's - even i believe has a sketch of the cathedral on station walls

I was aloof to say City Thameslink because i thot perhaps the word Thameslink had been retired ever since First Capital One assumed the franchise formerly called Thameslink

If you wanted to walk from a station Farringdon i think may be the closest and not a bad walk if say one has rolling bags

Nope - just City Thameslink. Now, there are two exits a couple of blocks apart and one of those is closer to St Paul's.

OK Janis i'm stuck a bit in the past but it was long ago when opened called St Paul's Thameslink but not now -
