Gasthof Furberg and September weather in Austria
We are planning a trip to Austria for 2 weeks in September. In upper Austria, like St. Gilgen, Hallstatt, etc, is the weather warm enough to swim in the lake? How cold does it get at night? Temperature difference high in the mountains? We are leaning towards Gasthof Furberg in St Gilgen. Has anyone stayed there? Pros and cons?

What I really need to know is about the weather in Early September. Have found all other answers, Thanks

We've found the weather to be very nice in September in St. Gilgen. I remember it being warmer than I expected, altho it can be cooler in the evening. If you took the steam train from St. Gilgen up to Schafberg Mtn., it will likely be cooler at the higher elevations.
We always stay at the Schernthaner Hotel in St. Gilgen. It's one of those places where you feel welcome because the owner is a lovely lady and treats her guests like family. I recommend it highly. http://www.hotel-schernthaner.at/sei...sh/index_e.htm We will also be in Austria in September. Five days in Vienna, 2 days in Steyr and then our final 3 days in St. Gilgen at the Schernthaner! |
Thanks for the weather report, very encouraging. We will be in St Gilgen 9/10-9/18,2011

We'll be there the 24th-27th.

bettyk,
Where will you be staying in Steyr? We will be there in April (1st time there, but not 1st time in Austria). Any recommendations for the area would be appreciated. LisaG |
Here's the info on our hotel in Steyr. Haven't stayed here before but it looks nice and the price is reasonable. The location seems to be good also. If you stay here, I'd be interested to hear what you think.
