Gascony region?

My husband and I have started our impossible fall trip planning and could use some help. We are both interested in doing a trip in Gascony especially to taste and visit the Armagnac wineries and then travel to Bordeaux. We were wondering how the fires affected the region in 2022 and if the region is ready for tourists? I've researched this question, but would like some "first hand" information. Has anyone traveled that region since the fires?

Also, if there are places you could recommend or things to see. We both enjoy hiking, eating and mainly seeing the sights. Thanks for any help.

We are going to be spending two weeks in the Gers in May. While I cannot comment on the impact of the fires, we are not concerned that it will affect us unduly. But then, we stay in self catering and do not eat out a lot. I am probably more concerned about reports of boulangeries closing because of rising power and supply costs! We are not big brandy drinkers but did enjoy Floc de Gascogne when we were there in 2012 which we bought at Chateau de Cassaigne. So that will probably be our choice.

Enjoy your planning.
