Gas Credit Card in Germany/Switzerland

Planning a driving trip through southern Germany and Northern Switzerland. Is there a gas company credit card(s) that would be recommended to take to Europe to use?

Visa or MasterCard will be fine. Seems less common to find the kind of automatic gas pumps in which you insert your credit card without an attendant. Still no problem to use a credit card anywhere though.

Best wishes,

Rex

My experience is that specifcially in Switzerland and in France my credit card did not work in the gas stations. I had to go to a station with an attendant who would accept my credit card. This meant that if I needed gas around noon, I had to stop before 12:30 when the attendants closed for lunch until 2 p.m.

In Germany, we managed to end up in a couple of gas stations that had stopped taking MC and Visa, even though they still had the stickers up. Had to come up with cash. One explained that fees had gone up so they only took some European card--they just hadn't gotten around to removing the MC and Visa logos.
