Gare de Lyon to Trianon Palace Hotel, Versailles

In July, my wife and I will need to get from Gare de Lyon to the Trianon Palace Hotel in Versailles. It will be early in the afternoon, and we will have two medium-sized bags with us, plus hand-carries.

It looks like, if we try to do this by train, we will have a short cab ride to begin with and then another short cab ride at the end, neither of which seem popular with cab drivers in Paris.

Are we best to just get a cab from Gare de Lyon direct to the hotel, or is there a better way?

Would appreciate any help.

Bon.

This will give you the public transportation option: http://www.ratp.fr/itineraires/fr/ra...herche-avancee

You'll get on the RER C at Gare de Lyon and have a short walk once you arrive at Versailles Rive Gauche. You can now check public transit directions using Google Maps as well as the RATP link Michael has given above.

"You'll get on the RER C at Gare de Lyon"
No you won't... You'd need to walk across or Pont Charles de Gaulle to Gare d'Austerlitz.

How up for walking are you? It is about a 10 minute walk from Gare de Lyon to Gare d'Austerlitz and probably about a 20 minute walk from Rive-Gauche to the hotel. I'd take RER C and walk on both ends, but I know that isn't for everyone.

Actually, RER C does not serve gare de Lyon. You would need to go across the river to gare d'Austerlitz to pick up RER C to Versailles Rive Gauche. You can walk from gare de Lyon to gare de Austerlitz in about 10 minutes using the bridge that connects the two, likely joining the many others making the same walk and also toting luggage. You could hop in a cab but walking may actually be faster.

On arrival at Versailles likewise just jump in a cab. Not sure what you have heard about short cab rides but I have never had a taxi refuse any trip in Paris, even short ones.

Thanks. It looks like the walk/RER/cab option will be best for us. The walk at the end may be a bit too far with bags.
That is a useful link, Michael.
Bon.
