We're flying there in little over a week. I'm a little...concerned.

Anyone know anything beyond the AP story?

the strikes are ongoing, people protesting gov'ts wanting to change the whole pension plan system.
Here's an article from today's eKathimerini -

We were caught up in the nationwide general strike in DEcember. It caused the metro to shut for most of a 24 hour period, all ferry traffic stopped, only some taxis and few buses ran, ALL air traffic in and out of ATH absolutely stopped.
I commend the people for standing up for themselves, seeing that their gov't does the right thing. A PIA for us travelers, to be sure but just be prepared for possible alterations in your schedule.
A nice quiet meal in a candle lit taverna, blessedly free the overhead bare lightbulbs and bad '80's rock and roll hits can be lovely... electricity only goes off in spurts, for hours at a time, not for all of a day or all night. Who needs it all the time, anyway?
Between the pension crisis and Olympic's ongoing problems (most recently, they announced that they are not going to be serviced by a full crew schedule until JUNE!!!), we travelers to Greece just need to stay informed and be prepared!
Adventure!
