Galway for the weekend - accommodations? Suggestions?

Hi,

So I settled on Galway for my long weekend - from June 18th - June 20th. Any accommodation suggestions? What to do? I will be taking the train so will not have a car to get around.

Thanks!

Donna

Try www.booking.com/galway You are able to check what you want to pay per night.

We are planning a second visit to Ireland this September and plan to add the Galway area to our trip this time. I would love suggestions of what to see in and around Galway. We will be heading south afterwards so I don't want to go too far west. Thanks!

In April we stayed at Prague House, just over the Wolfetone Bridge toward Salthill, which was convenient for walking into the city. The price was quite reasonable.

Another place - and having no car is a real advantage for this location - is St. Martin's B&B, closer to the city center. I don't think you can get them online, you will have to call. They get excellent reviews on Trip Advisor. We have only seen the rear garden, which is right on the river and lovely.

If this is a big music weekend (I think you mentioned this in another post) you shouldn't wait long to book.

Thanks! There's availability at Devondell B & B which also has great reviews, can't gauge how far a walk it is.

Hi Donna,
A great spot for being in the heart of the city is Jury's Inn. They are located right on the pedestrian walkway close to all the pubs, shops, and they have a car park attatched. The rooms are always clean and they are very reasonably priced.

We enjoyed our stay at the Griffin Lodge B&B in Aug of 09. It was a 5 minute walk from pubs and shops, and the Spanish Arch. Good breakfast and Ann was afantastic hostess.

Thanks for the info!

If you haven't booked a place yet, any place in Salthill would probably be fine as the bus runs right into Galway and takes about 15 minutes. I liked the looks of Devondell, and they weren't too far from where we stayed.

Good to know - so not staying right in the city is ok? How hard is it to get back at night?

I was just in Galway a few days ago. LOVED my accomodations at the Park House Hotel. It was a very nice hotel and smack dab in the middle of all the action. Good luck!

Thanks all - got a reservation at Petra House - has great reviews and is a 7-10 min walk from the center. Cheers!
