Galway for 3 nights

I will be going to Galway for 3 nights this Thanksgiving. I do not want to rent a car. What is the best way to get there from Shannon Airport. Also are there any "must see" attractions that I shouldn't miss?

Thanks

The must see attractions "in Galway" are in the country side outside of Galway ].

If you have an appreciation of the absurd, The Galway City Museum is worth a look. One of the displays is a collection of old Kit-Kat wrappers.

It's easy to take a bus trip through the surrounding countryside, that's what I did, and the boat to the Aran
Islands. Also, Galway is quite lively. Plenty of shops and pubs, good walking city.

You can get a bus from Shannon to Galway. Check www.buseireann.ie and also www.citylink.ie
Galway is a wonderful city! It also has a very good Tourist Office if you want to book day trips to the Burren, Connemara region, Aran Islands, etc. Personally, I'd find plenty to keep me busy in town for three days. Kenny's Bookstore is one of my favorite places in Ireland.

Terrific live music in the pubs. Judy Greene is my favorite potter, don't miss her shop! We like to stay in Salthill and take the bus in to Galway.

Last 2-times I made the Shannon-Galway trip it was on a 9:20 AM BusEireann. It's a 'thru' Cork-Galway bus #50 so it doesn't show up on airport bus sked's. The people at the BusEireann counter in Shanon airport (along the wall with the rental car counters) will sell you a ticket.

If you're there Saturday afternoon, An Caeli and Taaffes have Traditional Irish music during the day. They are just across from each other in the Pedestrian area.

Can you tell me where Judy Greene's studio is? My husband is a painter and my daughter (13) is to pottery.
thanks!

Her shop is on Cross Street.

Cross Street is a side street off the main shopping stretch in Galway (Quay Street). I LOVED the store and bought several flower pots for gifts and for myself. They even survived the trip home!

We also prefer to stay outside Galway in Spiddal area though a night or two in Jury's never goes amiss! No breakfast with the cost but it's so handy we find it worth it.

Cheers,

Wendy

Eyps, Wendy beat me to it! Actually, the web site has been under construction since the spring. I am contemplating ordering a lamp right now, can easily be done by email if you can't make up your mind while you are there!

Another place you might be interested in is the Galway Crystal Factory. I have never been into crystal but managed to spend quite a bundle there, the shipping was very reasonable and got to me quickly. (Although I think it might actually have been shipped from Pennsylvania...Go figure!)
