galway city itinerary
I'm heading to Galway in late September. Will be in the area from Saturday afternoon to Tuesday. Will have car. My question is regarding how many nights I should stay in Galway.
I would like to spend some time getting to know the city. I don't like to cram too many activities into my vacays. My plan is to relax at a few pubs, walk around, maybe take in a tour or two. I would also like to drive down to Doolin. Stop in a few towns along the way, see the cliffs of moher and perhaps lahinch.
Currently, the plan is to spend Saturday night in Galway, Sunday night in Doolin and Monday night in a yet-to-be-determined locale.
Questions:
Should I stay both Sat and Sun in Galway and do the Doolin overnight on Monday?
Will the pubs in Doolin be dead on a Monday night?
Any other location, convenient to Shannon airport, that i should check out on Monday night?
Thanks in advance for your help.

mjwheel,
I'm topping this for you so someone who knows Galway will answer. I like The Burren which would include the Cliffs. You might want to spend a night in that area Doolin, Lisdoonvara, or one of the other villages so you don't have to go back to Galway. Ennis is a very nice town to spend some time in, close to Shannon.
Good Luck, Joan

I'm flying out of Shannon at 2pm. So I'll have a few hours on Tuesday morning to squeeze in another site.
Any advice on the water situation in Galway? Seems like it will affect residents more than tourists. Should I be concerned?

You may not be able to fit in as much as you think on your departure day. If your flight departs at 2 pm you should be at the airport at 11:30. It is a 1 1/2 hour drive from Doolin to the airport. Ideally you should give yourself longer in case of work on roads causing delays, a flat tire, or other things. I would stay closer to the airport on my last day so as not to rush. Try Ennis or Bunratty for you last night in Ireland.
