Galleria Borghese Bag Check Question
I'm making a solo trip to Italy in early May and I'm trying to figure out how strict the purse/bag check policy is at Galleria Borghese. Since I'm on my own, I'll have my wallet with credit cards/euros, etc, my Blackberry and probably my camera since I'll be touring other sites during the day. Their web site says that it iscompulsory to check every kind of bag, purse, camera, umbrella, etc, however, I've read on other sites that you can go through with a small purse. Can anyone let me know what I can actually bring into the gallery? Thanks!

I was there last year and was able to enter with my small cross body bag. The bag size is approx 6x8 inches. My son who had a backpack had to check it. I don't know if the regulations are more strictly enforced now.

They were pretty strict 2 years ago. No purses. No cameras. I didn't have to surrender my BB & I did see someone taking pics with a cell camera. But I would not go assuming that you could take even a small purse.

I've been to the Borghese 3 times and every time the rules were different. You must check large purses, umbrellas, coats/jackets, packs.
I've been allowed in twice with a small cross-body purse. Another time I was told I had to check my small purse and was given a plastic bag for my wallet, etc. The plastic bag was hand held (so it could swing and potentially hit something if I wasn't careful) and it was larger than the purse I had to check. Go figure.
You should arrive planning to check everything. Wear slacks with pockets to put your money or wear a money belt.

Thanks for the tips. I appreciate it. Do you think I could get away with a small wristlet for money/credit cards? I'll plan on wearing pants with pockets for my Blackberry and my camera, which is small and sleek.

If you wear a money belt (one that goes under your clothes), mycuwsapt, you can put your money and credit cards in the money belt. Put some cash in your pocket. I believe when I was last there like adrienne I too was handed one of those irritating plastic purses.
