Galeries Lafayette...Ladies?
I'm going to a fashion show at the Galeries Lafayette and wonder what to wear???

Any suggestions?

Thanks.........Sue

You don't have to dress up, if that is what you are asking. I went to one of those and the attire varied, but was pretty casual as most of the audience is comprised of tourists (or so it seemed).

Melissa,

Is it a good show? Worth your time to go? It's my friends birthday and that's how she wants to spend it. I'm hoping she won't be disappointed.

Thanks for your response..... Sue

If I were going to a fashion show in Paris - I would definitely wear something that is black and chic!
Not to feel like a country cousin:)
Then I would most likely break my husbands heart by buying everything that I saw in the show!

The fashion show is just held in this room, nothing special. You sit at little tables and they offered cold drinks and there was a little plate with biscuits. You received a list of the items being shown which told which floor/department they were from. The whole thing lasted about 45 minutes.

Sue,
No info on the fashion show at Galleries
Lafayette. I went to one at Printemps which was hosted in the restaurant with
a great stain glass dome ceiling. It did look as though a tourist bus dropped off a bus load. We travelled there on our own and wore black and white ensembles. It was interesting and fun 45 minutes. We vowed to buy a few things but did not. After it was over we travelled down the elevator with one of the models holding her motor cycle helmet. Standing along her side was her dressing entourage.

There was a great fashion exhibit, historically speaking at a small museum behind the Louvre, the name escapes me.
Museum of Textiles, maybe?

Sylvie
Thanks everyone, sounds like it's more casual than we thought.

Went to this fashion show in April of 2001 and found it very enjoyable! Although we didn't "dress up" (not necessary) we did dress nicely and never like a tourist. It was very interesting and we had a good idea of what the trend would be back in the states! I think it's a great experience and it is free!

I went with my 13-year-old daughter in April - great fun! Then we shopped our way down the store. It was mostly tourists, but I personally like to feel fashionable in Paris, especially when shopping - well-dressed casual I'd say.
