Gaelic football game tickets
We will be in Dublin on May 14 and there's a couple of games scheduled for Croke Stadium. It sounds like we can't buy tickets for the games until a week before the game. Can anyone say what the chances are for us to get tickets? If there's a good chance of it, I'll go ahead a book a room in Dublin that night. Otherwise, we'll head out of Dublin that day. I just don't know how popular these events are.

[email protected] As it is early in the season, you should have no problem getting in to Croke Park. I think you can buy vouchers in advance which entitle you to enter any but the Final game of the season. |
Also there is a truck that sells tickets on the ballybough road by the corner of Clonliffe road on the day of the matches. I live beside the stadium and the early season games are not always sold out so yes do try and go the games are fun and the stadium is a new state of the art building. Its really great for sporting events and concerts. Go beforehand for a pint in Quinns on Drumcondra road. It's packed but a fun crowd. Avoid the pubs in the Ballybough road - not a great area and I would never go for a drink here myself let alone leave a touyrist here. Its fine to walk through in the day and buy teckets here but that is about it.

Thanks to both of you. I'll go to the tickets@gaa address. I'm not a big sports fan, but it's entertaining to watch the crowds. My husband and son will love it especially. Thanks for the tips on pubs. Jenny

I wouldnt wait until the day of the game to buy tickets in Croke Park, try to get them sorted out before as you will have trouble getting them on the day of the match. You can alway email the GAA and ask them to post your tickets to your hotel for you, they accept ticket bookings by CC |
Lucielu, I'm a bit confused. I've been emailing GAA directly and they have told me the tickets won't go on sale until a week before the game. Today the person wrote that she didn't think it would be sold out and I could buy them at Croke Stadium beginning at 11am the day of the game. She didn't know yet what times the games would occur. I guess I'll write again in a couple of weeks and order the tickets using my credit card. That's a good idea to have them sent to our hotel. Thanks. Jenny
