Hey folks, ignore my posting above. I was just responding to a blank posting! ANd, it obviously doesn't make sense since my response looks like the original posting. Guess it doesn't pay to be a smartass!

Howard, LOL yea, I guess one that backfired on ya:))). There is a glitch when posting on this forum I noticed. The title will appear but no message, it happened to me on my "Train Travel In Italy (Info & Tips)" post, I just reposted to my original post in it looked liked the original message. Hi! The post was from me and Walter was right -- there was a glitch and it didn't take. <BR> <BR>The news is: March 27-Apr. 4 has been declared "Culture Week" by Rome and all museums will be free. Expect VERY LONG lines -- the "in italy" website I visited even recommended not visiting museums that week but since it's the only week I'm there I have no choice! I also verified this on the "Time Out Rome" website so I guess it's true. <BR> <BR>Cheers and sorry my first message didn't take. . .the mystery is over!! <BR> <BR>suzanne

Was in Rome and Florence in 1998 during 'culture week'. Long lines is an understatement. Also, large groups of students of all ages everywhere you turn, especially in Florence. However, I thought it was wonderful that these kids got to see the history and art they are studying first hand, students in America only get to read about it and look at pictures. Truly makes the education experience that much better, IMHO.

Now, if I was one of those paranoid posters, I'd blame you for something! <BR>Suzanne, I would recommend you get to the museums early in the morning and stand in the pre-opening lines. <BR>Make sure you go to the recently opened Museo Nationale Romano at Palazzo Masimo alle Terme. It has some wonderful mosaics, statuary and the most magnificent frescos from the dining room of Livia's palace. The museum is small, but worth a visit.
