BBW, how about I've learned English by reading travel guides, beat that :))

Viaggio - you wait until you actually return from a trip before planning the next one?

-When you keep Euros (or whatever) in your wallet "just in case."

When I just got off the phone with my BF after deciding to go on a trip and the boss came in and said, "So where are you traveling to now?" I said, "How did you know I was making trip plans?" He said, "You have that LOOK on your face." Hmmm.

Other ways I know? I, too, love maps...especially city street maps which I gaze upon to find new spots and cherish places I've been.

Spending time looking at luggage whether I need it or not...always looking for "the perfect bag".

Imagining what trips to take should I win a huge lottery (that I never play!) so I can quit my job and travel. Oh the joy...

Agreeing with a friend of mine (another traveler) who says her favorite sound is that of an airplane taking off while she is on it.

I do 99% of all the lists above, and can add:

When you buy every new travel gadget that comes out. Of course, hardly any of them do you use, but I collect them all.

...when your MyYahoo home page features weather from Paris, Dijon, Rome and New York City but not your own hometown.
...when you have to divide your France folder on your web browser into subfolders for Paris, Provence, Burgundy, Loire, etc., because you have too many links. Ditto for Italy. And then you have to subdivide the subfolders into Sites, Restaurants, and Hotels!
...when you've done so much research that you can say to your husband "I think there's a little cafe down the street here..." and you're in an Italian town you've never been in before.

And yes, I do keep euros in my wallet - I would have sworn I was the only one who did that!!

Oh, yes, the euro in the wallet.

As we speak, there are 10 euros, a couple of pounds and a few Czech crowns in my wallet. And I haven't been out of my own time zone in five months.

When you swallow your fears, buy a cd course for fear of flying. and then book a trip that starts with 3 planes and a train...

as i was filling out some travel forms today, i remembered another one...

- when you've memorized your passport number to make it easier and faster to fill out those immigration forms on arrival.

...you have a make-up bag all ready to go, fully stocked with travel sized containers of your regular regimine (soap, shampoo, eye care, tweezers, makeup, etc.)

...you have packing lists hanging in your closet sorted by location and/or weather

...you keep your passport in your handbag because it's good to be prepared

...you buy a book called "100 of the World's Greatest Cities" and realize that you are halfway through

...you rate the quality of your post-college educational program(s) by the study abroad opportunities it offers

...you choose the NEXT educational institution by the study abroad opportunity it offers

...and of course, keep all the pounds, euros, etc. in your drawer for your next trip

But I cannot top TripGirl's pilgrimage to DCA.

Though now that she mentions it, it IS on the way to Alexandria....

.... you don't bother to totally unpack and put things away, because you never know when you will have to make an emergency trip to Paris on a moments notice.

Or when you are in a public place, a store or a restaurant and you overhear a total stranger telling their companion(s), that they are going France, Italy, Tanzania or wherever - and you immediately jump into their conversation, telling them that they can't miss this or that, ask where they are staying and then proceed to replan their entire trip on the spot.

Amateurs that they are ....they don't even bother to thank you. oooooooh those icey 'who asked you' looks.

You are introducted by friends to other people as ..this is Nina, she is always traveling, we never know where she is.

You are greeted by people you haven't seen in a while - 'so, where have you been and where are you going next'.

Everything already posted fits me to a T. If someone compliments me on my earrings, etc. I can't just say thank you, I have to say, 'oh, I got them in Carcassone' or where ever.

When you swear to DH and yourself, that you will not buy any books for your next trip, because you already have almost every guide book, and restaurant book, written about that place, then you hit Amazon and proceed to buy four or five more. That free shipping gets me every time.

You keep every free map you get while traveling - for years and years and years. A lot of them from major cities are duplicates, but what the heck, maybe a Girl Scout troop will need them for a project.

When you keep blabbing and blabbing in a post because you are so excited about being with a large group of kindred spirits - enough said.
