Fun Restaurants in Paris
 

We are looking for fun restaurants in Paris - themed, accordian music, edith piaf singing, etc. Thanks!

On Montmartre, there is the 'Au Lapin Agile' on 22 Rue de Saules just behind Sacre Coeur and the vineyard. (A terra cotta house with green shutters and a large painting of a dancing rabbit on <BR>the side of the building)It isn't exactly Edith Piaf, but local singers sing traditional songs with a HYPER active pianist and the entire place gets to where everyone is swaying back and forth cheering to old songs and singing/dancing together in unison. The building has incredible Bohemian cabaret ambiance: a cosy fireplace, wooden tables and chairs, copper pans, and wax dripping down candlesticks kind-of thing. <BR> <BR>I've never walked past it on my way home late at night and not smiled when I heard all the laughs and singing... <BR> <BR>I'm not sure about the rest of Paris...anyone? <BR> <BR>Have fun! <BR>Wendy <BR> <BR>

You make your own salad from a large basket of lovely vegetables that is placed on your table; help yourself to the vegetable and cold meat board and to the house red wine, which is in a wooden barrel (all you can drink!). I had their beef kabobs, which Judy had a steak (better than my kabobs); a cheese platter and creme caramel for dessert. $51. The waiters were very attentive. <BR> <BR>Beth, this was a fun place. There was a couple of guitar players who played a variety of music. The place was packed with people who enjoyed the evening! There was lots of food and we enjoyed the wine. There are two seatings, 7:30 and 10pm, or close to those times - I can't remember the exact times. We went to the early sitting. Cute waiters! <BR> <BR>

Ditto on Monica's post. It is a fun atmosphere, maybe a bit touristy, but the setting is still enjoyable. It is pretty noisy, guitar players are fun, and you are seated at long tables with other couples, families. We have met some very nice people on the two occasions we have been there. In fact, 10 years ago, our table mates followed us upon leaving as my (now) husband had told them he was proposing that evening. <BR> <BR>The food presentation was fun as well. We took friends with us on our return trip 8 years later for a fun evening.

There is a restaurant in the Monmarte area where everyone drinks wine from baby bottles, but I don't know the name.

Pirandello (sp?) is in the 7th, I believe on Rue Dominique. It is Italian, owned or operated by the brother of Carmello, (an Italian TV or movie star?). We always received a lot of attention at the restaurant (usually pretty empty when we've been there, but that may have been early in the evening). The waiters have sung to us and otherwise just were nice to have around, even if it was a little hokey. A nice change from French food, too.

Hi Beth <BR> <BR>There are a few raucous/sing-song places down the rue de Charonne in the Bastille (11e) . . . have a wander, the side streets are hopping also (though touristy at times). <BR> <BR>Have fun!

I also remembered Don Carlos, on the rue mazarine in the 6th... a Spanish version of fun and singing...it is a small place that gets packed fast... they serve only Paella (fabulous) and only one red wine- a Rioja. <BR> <BR>Don Carlos is quite the neighborhood character... he is in 90's...and used to be a personal crooner to Sophia Loren and kind of a Desi Arnez (sp?)back in his day and he STILL croons...on request and he brings the house down. There are old treasured photographs of who he sang with/for along the walls to remind him on occasion, when he gets nostalgic. <BR> <BR>There is a trio of singers in costume with beautiful handmade guitars who sing traditional songs where everyone chimes in and some of Don's oldies but goodies, which everyone knows to leave the good stuff for him to sing alone. His beautiful elegant wife and he run the place. He is getting on in age, and the neighborhood would not be the same without him...so we go as often as we can! <BR> <BR>For those who think I'm promoting/advertising a place, forget it. All you have to do is go to this local hangout and hear Don sing...you'll know I gain nothing but sheer joy from it and I hope you do too. He is a great guy. <BR> <BR>Wendy <BR> <BR>Wendy

I almost forgot about this place: <BR> <BR>UN PIANO SURLE TROTTOIR <BR>7, rue des Frances-Bourgeois <BR>4th Arr, Marais area <BR>Phone: 01 42 77 91 91 <BR>Divine escargots; steak (rare) with a bernaise sauce; house wine; apple sorbet with Calvados. $65.58 for two. Entertaining restaurant with a piano man. Even two of the waiters sang. <BR> <BR>There were lots of tourists there, but it was a fun place!

I think this sounds great! <BR> <BR>I will be in Paris in a month and a half and will have some 'greenhorn' friends with me - first time to Paris for both (first passport EVER for one of them!) so I would like to take them somewhere like Le Lapin Agile or something.. <BR> <BR>naff? maybe. but who cares!
