Fun for the buys!!!

We will be in Rome for 5 nights and Venice for 2. Are there safe clubs for these two 17 and 18 year old young men in Rome? They are fairly confident and could have a good time in the right environment.
Ideas for places?
Clothing attire?
Thanks!
I welcome any other ideas to make this trip a memorable one!

xxx Feb 12th, 2002 07:15 PM

You may want to rethink your header if you want serious responses to your post.

Leslie Feb 12th, 2002 07:45 PM

I think Mom meant "guys", however, I did have to read the message a couple of times. I think Mom is taking her 2 sons to Rome and Venice. The rest I am still pondering -- never mind, I don't think I want to know.

Mom, I agree, I think you need to rewrite the title of the thread and begin again.

MaryC Feb 12th, 2002 07:48 PM

I think she WANTED to write guys to make them seem more mature, but was actually thinking boys. Could be a Freudian slip. Hmmmmm.

Mom Feb 13th, 2002 05:46 AM

How some minds work! Actually, no freudian slip, typo slip.
I'll repost and see if I can get some help. Thank you for pointing out my error. I didn't think it would be that difficult to figure out.

MaryC Feb 13th, 2002 05:58 AM

Sorry, Mom - I was just playing.

Very chagrined,
MaryC

Scarlett Feb 13th, 2002 06:01 AM

MaryC-I thought it meant that she wanted to shop! hahaha...what is on MY mind??
MaryC Feb 13th, 2002 06:11 AM

Dear Scarlett, I first thought it was for shopping, too!!

But let's just leave Mom alone so that she can re-post her question!! : )

accent Feb 13th, 2002 08:44 AM

Maybe she's a Scot?

irish Feb 13th, 2002 09:50 AM
I thought she was from County Cork!

Mr. Mom Feb 13th, 2002 10:55 AM

Dear Mom,

After reading your response to several Fodorites, my question to you is "Do you ever proof read?".

Mr. Mom

Tipsy Feb 13th, 2002 11:06 AM

Perhaps a 100 proof? Mr Mom :0)
I find at the end of the day, with my drink in hand, that those pesky keys are so out of focus...will not stay still...I forgot what I as saying............

Mom Feb 13th, 2002 02:51 PM

Well, thanks a lot, everyone. I came to this website asking for a little help. All I have gotten is a lot of nasty replies. All I wanted was a little help to make my sons trip special.
With all my errors, I hope I raised my children to be kinder than you!
why Feb 13th, 2002 03:24 PM

Mom:
We were only kidding....I found you title neat which is why I opened it in first place....please re-read the posts they really are not nasty al all!

MaryC Feb 13th, 2002 03:37 PM

And, Mom, I DID apologize!! I hope you've taught your boys to accept apologies when given?? : )

Anonyimouse Feb 13th, 2002 03:37 PM

If you combine boys and guys together, do you get buoys?

In all honesty Mom, it was hard to tell from the title of your thread if you were interested in fun shopping, or information for your straight or homosexual teenaged sons. Unfortunately, your message is a bit vague, so we can only surmise or tease you.

Mom Feb 13th, 2002 04:37 PM

And Mom's gets the last laugh? ;)
*I* was just kidding this time around!
Love to all and happy travels!

MaryC Feb 13th, 2002 04:45 PM

Good one, Mom!! : )

scarlett Feb 13th, 2002 05:16 PM

I am just exhausted!
Someone unlace me~this has plumb wore me out~taking lil boys to clubs and then gettin all riled up when we make fun! My mama would never act like that!

Al Godon Feb 13th, 2002 05:20 PM

Let someone make a little error and the faithful Fodor's police have to scream the ramparts. The faultless proof readers are in my opinion a buch of cheap shot artists who get their jollies from pointing out the obvious.
The attackers lack the fortitude to post over or under a real name because they know darned well they would be blasted out of the water by some articulate contributor.
Ever notice that the nitwit pickers have no substantive contribution to make?
Gerald O'Hara Feb 13th, 2002 05:21 PM

You're right, Katie Scarlett O'Hara, your mother was a SAINT but I was just a poor drunken insane wee bit of an Irishman.

MyNameIs Feb 13th, 2002 05:24 PM

OMG Al, what are you going on about??
Every one said that they were joking! I am amazed at the complete lack of anything remotely like a sense of humor in people around here! Good grief, relax~bunch of up -tight heart attacks waiting to happen!

Mom Feb 13th, 2002 05:25 PM

And Mom's gets the last laugh? ;)
*I* was just kidding this time around!
Love to all and happy travels!

Mom Feb 13th, 2002 05:31 PM

I don't know why my post was repeated except I hit the "refresh" button. Sorry to the computer police! ;)
And, apologies for the poor grammar in my posts (Mom's), I must have been drinking!
And, Al, they really did give me pause to laugh at myself.
Thanks, for the yuks, folks!

Ladeeda Feb 13th, 2002 05:33 PM

This was a troll-up and you didn't get it

SympaMom Feb 13th, 2002 05:35 PM

Mom, Go to library or travel section of bookstore: "Let's Go Italy", written by students, for students, might have the kind of information you're looking for.

Rosemarie Garman Feb 13th, 2002 07:49 PM

This has nothing to do with travel so so please whomever it is that always gets so upset about non-travel items PLEASE don't read this and hurt me. I was so surprised to see Daddy O Hara's message as just today at lunch with other trivia freaks I was amazed that I stumped them with Scarlette's full name. They knew that originally she was to be named Pansy but not her first name. Well ..I thought it was an interesting coincidence...don't hurt me !

Rosemarie Garman Feb 13th, 2002 07:52 PM

P S I also thought that it was about shopping..I am a trivia AND shopping freak.

scarlett Feb 13th, 2002 07:54 PM

Why Rosemarie, honey, why would anyone hurt someone for knowin my lil ole name? It is good to remember these things, you see, you never know when this knowledge will come in handy. Now I must go, we are going to a party at the Wilkes house, they do give such nice parties..there is some Yankee there that I must meet, g'night ya'll..

Gerald Feb 13th, 2002 07:59 PM

Rosemary, great minds think alike (or so they say). I, too, am a trivia buff.

Katie Scarlett, I think it's time to go shopping - for little green Moroccan slippers!! And apple green silk dresses.

scarlett Feb 13th, 2002 08:06 PM

No, no need, I saw some fabric and made my own dress, with lovely gold tassels:)

G.O'H. Feb 13th, 2002 08:20 PM

Yes - and those curtain rods make your posture ramrod STRAIGHT!!

x Feb 13th, 2002 08:33 PM

Has anyone seen a little girl dressed in Blue, named Bonnie?

Topper Feb 14th, 2002 08:56 AM

Poor Bonnie - : (

Another Mom Feb 14th, 2002 09:09 AM

Dear MOM,

Sorry, I have never been to Rome, but I would suggest you write another post and I am sure you will get some great replies. Don't forget to save the other to show your boys. They will not stop laughing. Actually, I thought all the replies were real cute....come on don't you? It sounds like something I might do. BTW,I thought you meant to write boys.
P.S. If you've ever been to England would you like to add to my post, "Best Wishes for a great trip for my sister Amy". Thanks if you do.
Good luck to your on getting better replies on your next post.

Another MOM
