Full English breakfast
 

I will be arriving from Heathrow with some starving family members and staying in Pimlico /Westminster area. Would like to experience full English breakfast in a pub style setting if possible, as close as possible to Victoria Station.

Also, later in the day, I plan to be in the Trafalgar Sq area, or near Tower Bridge, any recommendations for "chippies" or pubs ? Not big drinkers, but would like to sample shepherd's pie, Yorkshire pudding, lamb stew etc.

If you are really starving you can get a full English at Heathrow. I usually do that so the tube will be less crowded, but maybe you are using a car service.

Awesome. Definitely the Regency, but maybe for lunch. I like the option at the airport also. Depends on my travelling companions, but great to know it's there.

This sounds perfect for breakfast, after we have dropped our luggage at the hotel.
If we like it, we may go back for supper, based on proximity to our hotel.

Good to know that breakfast at the airport is an option, but knowing my husband, he will be unable to relax until we get to the hotel and drop off our bags.

I just have to append a PDF I transcribed of a restaurant review that appeared in the Sunday Times in the 1990s, regarding breakfast at Simpson's in the Strand. I remember sitting in a hotel restaurant at Heathrow, giggling uncontrollably while my fellow jet-laggees stared at me curiously. Apparently they've now discontinued breakfast, a pity.

That's a hoot -- I've been more times than I'd like to admit. But when I want real olde timey tradition and better food more/interesting menu, I choose Rules.

harvmatic: re a full on English Breakfast -- your arrival day that might not be the best option. After an over night flight (on which they will have served you something in the AM - though possibly not edible) and with at least some of your group suffering from jet lag . . . a huge, greasy, though quite delicious, full breakfast is the last thing I want.

Have to admit that I’m not a big fan of the full English breakfast ( just too much for me ), but if I was having one, I’d go for the very best offered. Agree that Wetherspoons does not fit that category.

Even thinking of sitting down to a full English breakfast after a night in the skies gives me intestinal anguish. I'm lucky if I can scarf down a croissant, a piece of fruit, and a cup of tea after an all-nighter in a tube.

Well, I’m with you St. Cirq. I’d definitely need time to adjust my system for the ‘ the cardiac special’. The Wolseley would be an excellent choice.

I've managed to devour 8 all-you-can-eat Full English breakfasts over the past 2 weeks.

I'm normally a very healthy eater, but if a decent Full English is included in with the hotel price then I ain't ever going to pass the opportunity by......no damage to the waistline done I'm pleased to say.

I'm not keen on Wetherspoons food either, though their chips [McCain] are very good. I like Premier Inns at airports.

I stayed in a couple of Weatherspoon hotels my last trip to the UK. (One was excellent, the other not so much.) I thought that breakfast in the attached pub was perfectly edible and reasonably priced.
