Fuessen to Freudenstadt/Baden-Baden- Best route?

With 3 small kids, want to drive from Fuessen to Freudenstadt (we are staying 2 nights at each location). Reading about the drive through Meesburg and it sounds awsome but adds a full hour compared to my route through Ulm and Stuttgart. Is the drive so worthy that it is worth the extra hour or is my route still scenic? Leaving Sunday so last minute changes to be made if it is worth it. Thanks!

If you go an average of 100mph, Ulm - Stuttgart will be a lot faster. But it would never occur to me that the A8 Autobahn is faster when you're a foreign tourist.

Thank you for your response!
I am not so concerned about how fast I can get there, but rather the drive itself and how scenic one is compared to the other. If the drive through Meesburg is worth taking the extra hour because it is so beautiful, I will go ahead and do that instead. If the drive I am currently planning through Ulm is just as scenic, then I will not change plans.

The A7/8 Autobahn is NOT scenic at all, it's to get to a place as fast as possible. The A7 is mostly through flat terrain, no tunnels, not too many people till Ulm, made for hight speed cruising. Not scenic AT ALL. From Ulm westward, it's packed with cars, automated speed controls every few meters, sometimes going really slow. The Bundesstraße and the Autobahn via Meersburg are a lot more scenic and not nearly as full.

When there's a speed camera every 500 meters, people tend to go far slower than allowed. Doesn't happen in Bavaria. The speed checks start just behind the border! Bavaria is far more relaxed.
