From Zurich to Lauterbrunnen which train route is scenic
I will be arriving in Zurich and need to take the train to Lauterbrunnen. I was thinking that the train going through Lucerne was more scenic then the train going through Burn. Is that correct? Is it worth the extra train time to go that route?
Thanks

Sorry yes I meant Bern.
Is the extra time worth it? It doesn't look like there is an extra connection. They both are 2 connections. Yes it is about 20chf cheaper to go through Lucerne.

There is no "extra connection" as you have pointed out. Have you ever BEEN to Lucerne? if not, and you have some extra time, get off, store your bags and have a look around at least at the painted biridges before continuing.

I just got back from Switzerland arriving and departing out of Zurich.
From Zurich to Lauterbrunnen, I made train changes at Bern and Interlaken OST (next stop being Lauterbrunnen). Not sure what your idea of scenic is, but the sights IMO were not that bad. I especially liked the scenes when I was going through Spiez.
From Lauterbrunnen to Luzern, the scenes were more scenic, especially along the lakes.
Happy travels!

The trip to Lauterbrunnen from Zürich via Luzern has some scenic stretches. The descent of the Brünig Pass is fair to middlin as they say in Alabama. If you can stop in Luzern, the transportation museum is worth the effort. It is a very well done place to visit.
The trip via Bern gives you a different approach route from north to south then east. You get to see all of the Thuner See as you go along. Then some of the mountains appear.
I never got all worked over those views like I do the ones from the Luftseilbahn from Stechelberg to Wengen or the Luftseilbahn fron Lauterbrunnen to Grutschalp on the way to Wengen.
There are pluses and minuses either way. Any chance you could go one route and return the other? If so, I would return via Luzern and take the ascent of the Brünig Pass, but that is strictly a matter of opinion.
