From Rome to Florence

On arrival in Rome, I would like to spend part of a day in a spa in Viterbo or Grosseto. The two choices are Termi dei Papi in Viterbo, and Termi Saturnia. Has anyone been to these places and any recommendations? I'm planning to drive to Pievescola late in the afternoon. Any suggestions?

Hi,I imagine that you will be staying at la Suvera in Pievescola, to answer your question I should know at least at what time you will be arriving in Rome

I am arriving early in the morning 6:30am. Do you know La Suvera?

Yes I know la Suvera very well, its very elegant and very isolated. i would suggest that you go directly towards your place. Take the highway along the coast towards Civitavecchia, then direction Grosseto, along the road you could stop and visit the charming towns of Porto Ercole-Porto S.Stefano or Talamone. Then on the road from Grosseto to Siena you will find a hot water spa called Terme di Petriolo (you will have to do this road) From Siena take the main road to Florence and take the exit Monteriggioni, here you will start seeing indications for La Suvera.

Dario;

Thank you. Do you think we will not have the time to stop. We were planning to stop for 2/3 hours.
Is la suvera too isolated. we were hoping to use it as a base to visit siena and lucca.
No, you do have time to stop but if you do the road I said you will not be taking any diversions. if you go to Saturnia you are in the wrong direction. The road I reccomend you do is the shortest,fastest and most panoramic. La Suvera is fairly close to Siena (30 min)and at least 2 hours from Lucca, you are also close to S.Gimignano and Colle. If you like going out at night La Suvera is a bit out of reach, the hotel Bob reccomends L'amorosa is very far from Lucca (more than 3 hours)
