From Rome Ciampino to Naples

What is the train connection to be had from Rome Ciampino Airport to Naples? It may turn out that it is considerably cheaper to fly from Paris to Rome than from Paris to Naples. But we plan to see Naples, Rome, Florence and then go to Zurich, all by train. My logic tells me that it would make the most sense to start in Naples, but would it make that much difference in terms of train travel to start from Rome and then go to Naples, Florence, etc.? Thanks.

You can search timetables and fares here:

If overall cost is an issue, you need to price the total fares for the different possible scenarios. One thing to consider, if you train from Ciampino to Naples (as opposed to flying to Naples), you will travel the route between Rome and Naples twice.

Simplest probably are the companies that offer shuttle bus services from the airport to Rome's main Termini station, from where there are frequent fast trains down to Naples - €44 on those that do it in 70 minutes.

Costs less on the slower ones, right down to €10.50 on the slowest - the not very frequent Regionales, which take some 150 minutes!

This is an old screengrab now, but still gives the idea....
