From Orly Airport to Bordeaux

Hello Fodorites!
Hope someone here can help me.
I am landing in Orly and then starting my itinerary in Bordeaux (staying in Paris on my way back). From reading posts on this board I understand it'll be a long drive from Orly, about 6 hours. So TGV seem to be a better option though we are not light packares.

What is the best way to get from Orly to Bordeaux via train? how much time should I allow between landing and boarding the train? Is there a shuttle from Orly to train station in Paris? how much is a taxi?

Our friends are arriving the same day about the same time to CDG but it probably makes little sense for us to get to CDG to meet with them and then take TGV to Bordeaux. It seems each couple will travel on their own to Bordeaux and then we will meet there.

Thank you in advance.

No, it makes the most sense of all to take the shuttle from Orly to CDG and grab the TGV to Bordeaux from there. Faster and cheaper than going into Paris and certainly way smarter than driving.

I'd allow an hour between airports and then another hour before you board a train.

Don't know when you're going, but get PREM fares starting 3 months out from your travel dates for the cheapest option (they are nonexchangeable and nonrefundable, though, so plan carefully)

My scheduled arrival time is 8:40 am. I looked up the train schedules and this is what i found.
Let's say it takes another 40 min to get luggage and go through passport control. then another hour on the shuttle to CDG.If I am luckly I am catching 10:18 train that gets me to Bordeaux by 2:38 PM (14:38). Time in transit - about 6 hours.
Or
Shuttle to Paris Montparnasse station to catch 10:29 train which gets me to Bordeaux at 1:32 PM (13:32).
Travel time from CDG to Bordeaux is 1 hour longer than from Orly.
Does it make sense?
