From Munich to Wurtberg
 

Hi,
I'll be landing in Munich airport on 19th around @ 8.05pm. Think by the time i check out of the airport, it'll be close to 10pm. At this hour can i get a train to Wurtberg?

Else which is the earliest train i can hop on the next following day?

I read thru some travel guides and one of them says the train joruney from Munich to Wurtberg is abt 2.5 hrs but when i check
on the train schedule, it says take 5-6 hrs.

Anyone can advise me on the train service to take and also the timing too? thanks.

After 21:00 the only trains to "Wurzburg" from the Munich Airport are over night trains taking about 8 hours.

Munich Airport is a ways from downtown Munich. There is an Sbahn leaving about every 10 minutes to downtown taking about 45 minutes but then you are stranded as you already know.

The earliest ICE (fast train) leaving Munich for Würzburg leaves at 5:19 and arrives at 7:27.

You can leave at 5:05 with a connection at Nürnberg getting to Würzburg 8:19 on Regional Express trains.

There are a couple routes you can take overnight but they do not get you there much before those connections that I listed above. I would probably spend the night in Munich.

I'd suggest getting a room near the airport via Priceline (see www.biddingfortravel.com for list of hotels and winning bid amounts) then leaving for Wuerzburg the next day.

The problem with staying near the airport is that it is not near the main transportation hub, the Munich Hauptbahnhof, from which the early trains leave. The ICE and early RE trains seem to bypass Freising, etc. So, you would still have to travel into town to get out early.

Probably among the better advice you can get here:

It is advisable to learn and apply the correct spelling of the destinations of your choice.

There is no place in Germany called "Wurtberg".

There is not even one town with a spelling only remotely resembling that.

Spelling the destination correctly will also make the actual trip much easier - as you presumably would be able to identify your destination on timetables, road signs etc.
