From Madrid Airport to City

We are Three adults arriving at Madrid airport @ 8.30 PM. From Airport to Plaza del Carmen (where our hostel is), is it better to take Taxi or Shared Aerocity shuttle service?.

We have couple of heavy luggage, so can't take Metro.

Thanks,

You'll be better off taking a taxi.

I have taken a taxi in the past, but on my last trip I took the Aero bus. I thought the Aero was the best mode for me, but since there are three of you and you have heavy luggage, I'd agree that the taxi is the best. Splitting the cost among the three of you will make it more economical.

Agreed. Learn to use the packing rules in the future.

This has been espoused many times in the past on this forum.

Tough one-it depends on how much luggage you have-will it fit in the taxi? Other point-lots of traffic getting to your location and that meter sure keeps clicking away!
I would feel more comfortable with the fixed price of Aerocity.I have used them in the past both to/from airport and they were very good-just look for their desk as you exit arrivals.
Nowadays I use the bus for 5 euros but in your situation you would need to get a taxi from Cibeles to your hotel and you would have the same problem with the taxi.

it's not exactly heavy luggage, can say, 2 or 3 bags. Thanks, for the info.

so, no big difference between Taxi and Aerobus.

Taxi is very convenient, would be some 30€ to your hostal.

You stay less than 100 meters from one of my favourite breakfast places in Madrid, Valdemeso in Calle Mesoneros Romanos, 4. In my mind, essential to have breakfast at a local bar when in Spain, fabulous atmosphere and start of the day. Some 100 times more interesting than a standard hotel breakfast. I usually go for the ham and cheese sandwhich, fresh orange juice and a café con leche for 3,25€ (one of several breakfast offers). Here's one more that thinks the place is well worth visiting: http://www.tripadvisor.com/Restauran...so-Madrid.html

I really really doubt the taxi will be 30 euros! As I said, to get to the hotel, especially up and around Gran Via that meter will easily eat up ? euros!Aerocity will be a flat rate and comfortable!

Robert2533 Jul 6th, 2012 07:32 AM

I've never paid more than €28 to and from Plaza Santa Ana. The last time it was far less than that, in traffic.

chapla Jul 6th, 2012 08:37 AM

Robert-sorry,I don't believe you! With the airport surcharge that is impossible!

Thanks kimhe, i'll definitely try.

Chapla,
Robert is right. I've done this trip many times the past years, and it's always 25-30€.

Just returned from Madrid(and Vienna, cudapest,Praga and Berlin, report is coming). We were at Regente hotel, Mesoneros Romanos 9, and had one dinner at Valdemeso, good; and very good quality/price .
for the first time we used the Aerobus, at 5 euro per person; nothing could be better.
