From London to Stansted or Luton
Is there a relatively cheap way to get from London to Stansted or Luton ?
I am about to buy a ticket for an Easyjet, which flies from both airports, but transfer rates that I was able find are 120-180 pounds for 2 people. This is crazy. Is there a cheaper way to get to one of these airports, and if yes - which airport is better in terms of transfer cost ?

Try this - at £11.50 a person, it seems much cheaper

What method of travel would cost you 180 pounds? Trains to Stansted airport leave often from London Liverpool Street station taking about 50 minutes and from St. Pancras Station to Luton in about an hour costing 17 pounds each.

You can also take the Stansted Express leaving from Tottenham Hale station, or a coach service for 20GBP for two people (from Victoria).

There are espress busses to Lutton from Victoria Coach Terminal (near the train station). i don't remember the cost but it was nowhere near 120 pounds! We bought our tickets online and saved a bit. The driver just scanned the bar code on the ticket I had printed at home.

Are you googling "Transfer" or did you ask your hotel?? Those are the only ways I could possibly think you could find an £180 trip to either airport. A "transfer" is often a limo and since both airports are quite some way from London that could be the quoted price.
But you don't need a "transfer" - just regular, run of the mill "transportation/transit". Buses, trains, even a car service would cost a fraction of what you've been quoted.
A coach or train are the best and cheapest ways to get there. Coach - cheap. Train - almost as cheap but much faster.

Bear in mind that coaches to the airports can get stuck in traffic where you don't have that problem with the train. If you do get a coach, allow plenty of extra time just in case. If you are late for your Easyjet flight you will have to buy another ticket and it won't be cheap as all the cheap seats will have been sold months before.
Also, at Luton, there is a shuttle bus from the train station to the airport and this takes extra time.
