from Lake Como to Vencie

We are driving from Lake Como to Venice, any good stops for lunch or shopping?

One of our favorite things about this drive is the ability to come to a three way stop on the way to VENICE and all three directions have signs that point to ROME, but not Venice. It gave new meaning to the "all roads lead to Rome" concept.

It made us laugh and we still have the pic somewhere.

Have fun and we agree with Bob's recommendation at Lago Garda.

Of course, several times.
And, we are going back for 3 weeks in 2009 to celebtrate our 50th anniversary. After 14 trips to Italy, "the lakes" remain our favorite destinations. You want to stay in the mid-lake area. With a car I prefer staying at Menaggio---if by train then I prefer Varenna. It makes little differene while there since it is all connected by local ferries.

We loved taking a boat ride from our hotel on the lake, with a guide who pointed out things like George Clooney's villa and the villa where a James Bond movie was filmed. Our boat left from our hotel (Villa d'Este) but I think there were non-hotel guests on it as well.

It is incredibly beautiful there. Have a wonderful time.
