from Dubrovnik to Venice?
I just spoke to travel agent and was told that it was practically IMPOSSIBLE to get from Dubrovnik to Venice. is that true? what are my options?
thanks |
The travel agent is obviously useless.
You can get an overnight ferry from Dubrovnik to Bari then a train, or get Jadrolinija's coastal ship from Dubrovnik to Rijeka, then a bus and a train, or take a bus from Dubrovnik to Split, then an overnight ferry to Ancona and a train. |
Thank you so much! though it still seems complicated, it sure is doable. would you reccomed we travel to venice in the morning? what is the approximate travel time?

The reference library of a city near you may have the Thomas Cook European Timetable. Some answers are these. You can confirm boat times using Google. I should choose to arrive in Venice in the morning by sleeper

We are doing something similar in September! Except I assumed we would make our way up the coast from Dubrovnik all the way to the Istria Peninsula and then make our way to Venice from there.
I am always impressed by this group and the quality of the answers. Thanks for confirming that this is doable. Timing the Jadrolinija schedule seems to be the tricky part. |
If Jadrolinja give you no joy you can turn to the catamaran of Aliscafi SNAV from Split to Ancona (but with a dull time at Ancoina), or to the Azzura Line from Dubrovnik to Bari. Ben Haines |
Blue Line (www.bli-ferry.com) has sailings every night from Split to Ancona. The ships have restaurants and cabins. The SNAV catamaran would not be convenient because it gets to Ancona in the evening so you'd have to spend the night there or spend a night sitting on trains.
