From Denmark to Balkan and around

Jump to last reply

I have got an internship in Belgrad for the fall. I have therefore planned to make a trip from Denmark, where I live, to Balkan around in the region and ending in Belgrade around the 8-10th of August.
My trip will start in the beginning of July so I would have around 5 weeks for the trip.
I have also think of just flying to an city somewhere in the region and begin from there but it seems like flight from Denmark to Balkan is not the cheapest. So I think It is funnier to backpack by train or bus all the way down there and around.

My biggest problem is what to see in Central Europe on my trip. I did make a Central Europe trip last year where I visit Berlin, Prague, Cesky Krumlov,Linz, Graz, Vienna, Munich and Hamburg. So I have seen a lot of the main cities in the region on the way down plus I have already also been in Budapest and Krakow. Where would you suggest my to go on my way down from Denmark in Central Europe? I do not want to use a lot of time but would like to have one or two stop on my way.

My main interest when I am travelling is history and natur. I am not the clubbing or shopping type except when it comes to food :P I am neither the beach type I can only spend half a day at the beach except if you can snorkle.

I the Balkans the only thing I really want and have to see is Sarajevo beside from that I am very open to suggestions. But I would like to visit Albania. I have already read a lot about the region and can see there is a lot of beautiful and interesting places like Kotor bay, Ohrid lake, Dubrovnik, Split etc. but since I am travelling in high season and would like to avoid the places there are overcrowded. I think Serbia is least important at this trip since I will have a lot of time to explore it doing the fall.

Any advices or suggestions?
