From Cork to Rome
My husband and I will be traveling from Cork to Rome the last week of July '14 and would like to know what would be the cheapest way to get there? We have been looking at either going by train (which seems like a hassle) or flying (which is not very cheap). We like the idea of sightseeing by train, but also don't know how much time of trip will be spent from A to B because we also want to enjoy Rome. Any recommendations will be greatly appreciated!

Have you priced air tickets for Dublin? There is good rail service between the two.

You had an earlier thread about this. Click on your own screen name to find it.

@itallian_chauffer: From Cork to Dublin? I checked, and total flight time is about 10hrs! not to mention $250.. There's good rail service from Cork to Dublin or from Dublin to Rome?
@kybourbon: Yes, but this thread is specifically about travel from Cork to Rome. |
Yes, I was talking about rail from Cork to Dublin. Train takes about 3.5 hours, plus maybe another hour to get to the airport from Dublin Heuston Train Station.
With the countries and water between, I can't imagine any rail scenario from Ireland to Rome that doesn't involve SIGNIFICANT time. |
The fares of https://www.bookryanair.com start around 100 EUR for a direct Cork - Pisa flight in the last week of July.
For example for July 25th: Cork dp 10.20 - Pisa ar 14.00, 91 EUR Pisa Centrale dp by train 15.45 - Roma Termini ar 19.48, 23 EUR |

We are looking for flights out of Cork to Rome on July 27th. @Tony2phones: Where did you find the Cork-Dublin flight?
|
Its an express bus not a flight.
|
@Tony2phones: Where can I get more information about the Express Bus? That seems like a good option
