From Caernarfon to Wells?
We will be driving from Caernarfon south to Wells (near Bristol) and wonder what the route through central Wales (Powys) is like in terms of beauty, difficulty, etc. We'll be happy to spend the extra time if it's advisable. Thanks for the input.

I would suggest the road through Snowdonia park... its windy, but fairly direct, and FILLED with beauty...

It is a beautiful drive. Lots of hills and sheep. The spa towns of Llandrindod Wells and Builth Wells are lovely. River Wye. Elan Valley lakes and dams. Many winding roads that may have sheep being moved along. Not a very direct route I'm afraid but worth the drive. you wont be disappointed. I'll be there in June as I return to visit family. Perhaps we'll cross paths. Enjoy !

Thanks for the info. We're spending a week near Caernarfon so we'll spend quite a bit of time in the Park. And Chrisp, we'll be there the first week of May so we unfortunately won't cross paths, but have a great visit with your family.

Chester is a must see. It's the most intact of the walled citys. Worth a few days at least. Hope its in your plans.
