From Budapest to Vienna on 26 Dec 2015

Jump to last reply

i, as we need to travel from Budapest to Vienna on what is a holiday for both these countries and given the current situation with trains there, I was hoping for some guidance on the below

1. Research here says bus maybe the best option. Given this is a major holiday, will buses still run frequently and is asking my concierge to purchase the ticket 3-4 days in advance ok or do I need to purchase physically from somewhere or online beforehand? Also, are the bus departure and arrival stations in both cities near the city center? Will we find a taxi easily from the arrival station more specifically?

2. I could reserve a train ticket (direct) from a third party (reliable, I have used before, raileurope.com) site from Budapest Kelefold to Wiend Meilding. However the site for some reason that we have never faced before could not complete the booking and has put it on hold. What are my other options if I want to purchase a train ticket online?

Any other guidance towards making this travel smooth is very welcome. thank you again.
