From Bremen to Amsterdam by Train

Hi can someone help me out as to an average cost to travel by train from Bremen central Station to Amsterdam Central Station in Dec 07 pls

yup - go to www.bahn.de the German rail website and it should tell you the fares and schedules. I suggest going to www.budgeteuropetravel.com's home page and clicking on link All European Railway Timetables or some such wording as this links you to the English page of the bahn.de web site (or go to www.bahn.de and click on Int'l Guests on top bar) but the home page referenced also gives you several valuable tips for novice users to get the most out of the site so i refer there. The Wunderbar bahan.de site will let you in on online discounted tickets, give you the platform number of where you have to change for Amsterdam, etc.

Worth mentioning that the rail fares from Bahn.de go up and down like a YoYo a lot of the time. Specially dependent on season. Don't check one month and book the next, you might find yourself with twice the cost of fare. The following website used to publish a list of fares for various trips to Amsterdam, not sure whether it still does though:

I'm sorry, but you are misinformed. There is no dependence of fares on time or season. The fares (the full fares, that is) always cost the same and are always available.

Sometimes there are discounts available - until they are sold out. This is probably what you mean.

Exactly - if no SPAR fare available it won't appear in fares available

and the difference can be HUGE so be flexibile as to time of day and even date

The normal ticket is 82,80 E one way and is ALWAYS available.

Whether the discounted fares (29 E is the cheapest) are available - it depends! But with these you take in account absolute loss of flexibility - if you missed the train you can throw away the ticket.

Ok than now I know the approximate fare and if I find cheaper I will grab that one. Thanks for all your help.

If you can't get a cheap fare then IMO there is little reason to buy in advance

You can easily book the full fare at the same price at stations - don't worry about not getting on any train IME
