From BGY to Milan train station..and the train to Florence.

I'm flying into Milan (BGY) from Istanbul, arriving around one in the afternoon. Is there an easy bus/train that will take me to the station to catch a train to Florence? How much would a cab be? Cost matters to me, but I would be willing to shell out more money for a cab if it meant avoiding an annoying/confusing bus/train ride..

As for the train to Florence..best to make a reservation, yes?

Thanks!

Transportation information for BGY is here:

There's a shuttle bus that goes to Milan Centrale, where you can pick up the Eurostar Italia to Florence.

You can take a bus to Bergamo and train from there, but since the train has to go back to Milan anyways, you might just as well take the direct shuttle from BGY to Milan Centrale.

Thanks! So do I want the one that goes to Milan Lambrate railway station, or the one that says Milan railway station (Air Terminal)..it's weird that I don't see Centrale, is Lambrate the "official" name or something?

thanks so much.

No, you're going to "Milan Railway Station (Air Terminal)". That's how they refer to the bus terminal on the side of Milan Centrale. You don't want to go to Lambrate.

bumping my old thread here..would train reservations be recommended for Milan/Florence? If I miss my train will they honour it for the next one?

Thanks!

Also, how long does the shuttle bus take to get from the airport to centrale? My flight is scheduled to arrive at 12:20 (barring any delays), and I see there is a train from Milano to Firenze at around 1500. Think I'll make it? Would it just be easier to take a cab?

It's at least 50 minutes. More like an hour. Using a taxi will be faster as you won't have to wait for the bus and other passengers, but the distance is still there. And you'll pay a lot more than 5EUR for the taxi.

I think 15:00 is tight. I'll buy tickets on the one an hour later.
